Kabul: Since few months, the Afghan security forces have been facing a continuous attack by the Taliban. They even have lost numbers of its soldiers as well as the common people of the country as the insurgent group initiated attacks without a break. The Afghanistan government though takes help from Donald Trump to get rid of this serious problem, but the US-led combat forces have failed.
But interestingly, the Afghan Taliban on Monday agreed to hold directs talks with the United States for a ‘peaceful solution’ to end the Afghanistan conflict. In a written statement, the Taliban also quoted remarks by the US Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia, Alice Wells, that “keeping the doors of dialogue open for the Taliban”.
The statement read, “The Political Office of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan [Taliban] calls on American officials to talk directly to the Political Office of Islamic Emirate regarding a peaceful solution to the Afghan quandary.” It further added, “The Taliban also urged the US to accept the legitimate demands of the Afghan people and forward its own concerns and requests for discussion to the Islamic Emirate through a peaceful channel.”
By pointing out the huge ammountable deployment of US forces and its allies, the statement also stated, “America must henceforth focus on a peaceful strategy for Afghanistan instead of war. Military strategies which have repeatedly been tested in Afghanistan over the past 17 years will only intensify and prolong the war. And this is not in the interest of anyone.”
Earlier in February, the insurgent group published an open letter to the US citizen and US Congress and said that it could be ready for talks. But will not enter talks until foreign troops leave the country. Meanwhile, earlier on January, Trump rejected to talk with the Taliban while a series of deadly terror attacks in Afghanistan killed over 150 people especially in Kabul.
