Kolkata: IPS Bharati Ghosh resigns from her post after she was transferred to a less significant post, a few days earlier. She sent her resignation letter to the DG Surajit Kar Purkayastha. The state has still not accepted the resignation, though it is believed that her resignation will be granted by Thursday.
Recently the IPS was transferred from the post of West Midnapore superintendent of police to the post of the commandant of the third battalion of the state armed police after the Sabang by-poll. Reportedly, a section of Trinamool Congress leadership believed that she had not worked in an impartial manner and this has led to an increase of BJP vote in the Sabang by-poll. However, the administration has not said anything in this regard and has maintained that the transfer was ‘routine’.
Meanwhile, earlier, the east Midnapore Superintendent of Police, Alok Rajoria took the post of West Midnapore Superintendent of Police, whereas, Rajoria’s former post was succeeded by Deputy Commissioner of traffic, Kolkata Police, V Solomon Nesakumar.
