Kolkata: 24 hours after the Carmel Primary School sexual harassment incident, another similar incident came to light where a student of Kamala Girls’ High School has allegedly been a victim of sexual harassment. A non-teaching staff has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Allegedly, a non-teaching staff named Malay Barua has sexually harassed a Class 9 student inside the school premises on Thursday. A complaint has been lodged by the family members of the girl at Rabindra Sarobar Police Station on Friday. The accused has been arrested on Saturday morning by the police.
Meanwhile on Friday, a 6 year old student of Carmel Primary School has been allegedly sexually harassed by the dance teacher of the school for over a year. The incident sparked protests among the other guardians of the school. The accused dance teacher Soumen Rana has been suspended on Friday following the protests of the guardians. On Saturday morning, the police have been deployed in front of Carmel School to avoid any unwanted incident. Reportedly, the school authority stated that the school will reopen on a normal basis from Monday. Keeping in mind the demands of the guardians, the Principal of the school has agreed to install CCTV cameras inside the school premises.
