Desk: Incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Tuesday submitted his resignation to the state Governor Vajubhai Vala after losing the Chamundeshwari constituency.
Siddaramaiah lost against his JD(S) rival G T Deve Gowda. But in Badami, he defeated his BJP rival B Sreeramulu by over 1,600 votes.
However, there seems to be a possible twist in the Karnataka politics with Congress adopting every means to stop the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to form the government.
It was clear since the counting began, that BJP will be forming the next government after gaining the majority position. But the tables have turned. The Congress is planning to have an alliance with the JD(U).
Gulam Navi Azad has directly spoken to JD(S) leader H.D. Devgowda and has also offered the chief ministerial post to them. In that case, Kumarswamy might become the next CM of Karnataka.
According to sources, Congress leader Sonia Gandhi has also spoken to Devgowda.
If accepted, then BJP will not be able to form the government in Karnataka inspite of having the majority number of seats in the Assembly. With 72 seats of Congress and 41 of JD(S), they will gain the position of the CM.
